The Ebola-Tx project - Video report from epidemic Conakry, Guinea
The largest ever Ebola epidemic forced governments, aid organizations and research institutes to act quickly. As did we when the Institute of Tropical Medicine in Antwerp asked us if we could organize a film crew in epidemic Guinea.
Our crew witnessed the efforts of the Ebola-Tx research consortium - led by the Belgian Institute of Tropical Medicine in Antwerp - as they set up a clinical trial to evaluate the efficacy of convalescent plasma therapy, boosting the immune system of Ebola patients with antibodies from the blood of recovered patients.
Interviews with local and Belgian clinicians, Ebola victims and caregivers on site speak of the success - against all odds - of the Ebola-Tx project.
